Leaving Assateague 5/21/2014

I had to check out of the National Park in the morning, as there were no sites available in the Oceanside campground. I thought about going back to the MD campground but decided to just head home. I had to put some air in my tires, which required running the generator. So I stopped in the parking lot by the MD ranger station. I had hoped to stop in the gift shop but it was closed. :-( I was pleasantly surprised to see a bunch of horses in the parking lot.

Assateague 5/20/2014

I broke camp in the morning and moved to the National Park campground. I like it better as there's more wildlife and fewer partiers. Weird, as in theory there's no alcohol allowed in the MD park.  It's also nicer as I could walk to the bayside for the sunset.  It was another relaxing day, other than one annoying phone call to work to tell them I was taking leave until my retirement date.

 
We had quite a standoff here....I wanted to hang my panel on the ladder & this mini tarantula sat there and glared at me. I was reduced to flinging handfuls of sand at it which it ignored. Finally had to find a stick (a big stick) to knock it off with.
