11/3/2014 Bisti Day 2

Wow, this place is desolate. I started off today where I should have started the first day. On the side OUTSIDE the fence on the other side of the road. The "Photographer's Guide" I had been using just brushed over it in passing, but I found it way more interesting than the spots it had directed me to. One thing, it is killer easy to get lost here, I did. I had the gps waypoint for where I parked on the phone but kept walking away from it as it just didn't seem possible that that's where the car was. I finally pulled out the ipad mini, which was also tracking, and it also said I was going the wrong way. At which point I finally believed it and turned around. It was almost 4:30 when I got back and I resolved to leave in the morning. In fact, by the time I got my backpack off and unwound a bit I decided to leave then. I figured I could get to Farmington before it was dark dark (We've heard this before...) and even if I didn't I would probably just head to Walmart.  I'm glad it was still light as the road into Farmington has a steep grade and some curves. Better done before sunset.

I would like to come back when I have someone to hike with, this place is just so desolate. No one is looking at the trail register so if you get lost or break a leg you are on your own. Here are a bunch of pics....I'm sure you'll see faces/animals/people etc. I know I did.
